2011 Ethnic Minority Scholarship Winners

Ten local high school students are the recipients of the Alpha Lambda Omega chapter 2011 Ethnic Minority Scholarship. Each recipient was awarded up to $1,000 to help with college expenses.

The annual scholarship is open to all local high school seniors who apply with a 2.5 GPA or higher; SAT score of 750 or higher (combined Math and Critical Reading); demonstrated leadership capabilities (church, school, community service); evidence of financial need; member of an ethnic-minority group;and resident of Mecklenburg County.

The application, along with the criteria, is sent to local school guidance counselors each January. This year, the chapter's Scholarship Committee reviewed 39 applications..

Award recipients are formally acknowledged and honored during the chapter's annual Little Miss AKA Pageant. This year's pageant will be held November 5, 2011.

Alisha Dion Carter	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Judy Carter Charlotte, North Carolina Alisha is attending Elon University.
Cortney J Graham*	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Malcolm and Kim Graham Charlotte, North Carolina Cortney is attending Winston-Salem State University. (*) Cortney is a legacy scholarship recipient. Her mother Kim is an active member of the Alpha Lambda Omega chapter.
Mercedes M Maddox	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Brandey Maddox Charlotte, North Carolina Mercedes is attending East Carolina University.
Victor X Moore	Awarded $500 Son of Sharon Daniels Charlotte, North Carolina Victor is attending Catawba Valley Community College.
Katelyn J Robalino	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Erick and Mary Robalino Charlotte, North Carolina Katelyn is attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Briana C Robinson	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Shawn and Sebrina Robinson Charlotte, North Carolina Briana will attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in the Spring of 2012.
Jasmine A Saunders	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Shannon Saunders Charlotte, North Carolina Jasmine is attending Hampton University.
Bernice P Sem	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Jacob and Christiana Sem Charlotte, North Carolina Bernice is attending Western Carolina University.
Olivia Joy Stinson	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Jacqueline N. Stinson Charlotte, North Carolina Olivia is attending Winston-Salem State University.
Cheaslei S Weathers	Awarded $1,000 Daughter of Thomas and Pamela Weathers Charlotte, North Carolina Cheaslei is attending North Carolina A&T University.
